The solution that worked in our case was what was suggested in the second link by ‘badbanana’. The wallpaper seems to show up intermittenly, specially after few gpupdates and restarts but this was suitable.įew online searches seems to indicate that quite a few admins are complaining about this issue as indicated in the comments here and here. This had worked fine for the most part but it has become noticable that users quite frequently just see a black background.
This would result in a group policy like in this image: The normal process has been to put the wall paper on the NETLOGON share and set the group policy to load the wall paper from there. Due to the Covid work from home situation, this is affecting a quite a lot of users. That is, laptop users connected remotely. Also this only seems to happen with users on a VPN. A strange issue that has occured recently is the desktops of Windows 10 Professional machines showing just a black screen.
